ACTION AND DESCRIPTION
Wide spectrum and antifungal bactericide against dermatophytes and candida.
Antiseptic for healthy skin disinfection. It disinfects the skins before any type of intervention.
It is used for the pre-surgical washing of the hands of medical and nursing staff and for the disinfection of the patient's skin.
It is used in 4-10% solutions to disinfect open wounds and small burns, for pre-surgical disinfection and catheters and dialysis equipment.
Possibly the most diluted solution is more effective than those concentrated because it releases comparatively more ion Iodo, but has not been studied as extensively as that of 10%.
The iodized povidone maintains good activity in the presence of body secretions, tissue fluids, surfactants and broken tissues.
Its potency is lower than that of iodized alcohol but has less incidence of adverse reactions.
