ACTION AND DESCRIPTION

The Tampax tampons are available in the following absorptions:

- Lites: for the days of very little flow.

- Regular: For low to moderate flow days

- Super: for moderate to abundant flow days

- Super plus: for days of abundant flow.

PRECAUTIONS AND WARNINGS

The use of tampons is associated with a rare but severe disease called the Shock Toxic Syndrome (SST).

SST is a very rare but serious disease. It is caused by toxins produced by the bacterium Staphylococcus Aureus, which is usually found in the ay nose in the vagina. SST is a known and treatable disease that men, women and children can suffer. It is more likely to occur in teenage girls and women younger than 30 (Mestrual SST).

Although it is rare, it is important to know it to act if necessary.

Early recognition and treatment of symptoms is paramount. Signs that warn of a possible SST are the following, although they do not have to present all of them: high sudden fever (39oC or more), dizziness, vomiting, muscle pain, diarrhea, fainting or feeling faint when standing and skin irritations similar to sunburn.

In advanced states of the disease, the skin can be decayed.

The SST can occur at any time during menstruation or shortly after. It can easily happen from symptoms similar to those of the flu, to become a serious disease of fatal consequences. If you have one or more of these symptoms, you should remove the tampon immediately and look for medical attention. Tell your doctor you've used tampons and you're worried about having SST.

If you have had symptoms of SST on previous occasions, you should consult your doctor before using tampons. You can reduce the risk of SST using the minimum absorption needed to meet your needs, changing the tampon every 4/8 hours and using a compress instead of a tampon at least once a day during your rule. You can also virtually eliminate the risk of menstrual SST not using tampons.

It is recommended to always use the presentation of the minimum absorption in function of the personal flow.

Change tampon every 4/8 hours.
